The United States Federation for Middle Eastern Peace (USFMEP) hosted a panel of female judges to discuss this immensely important topic that focuses on laws that encourage violence against women and girls that seek to break the restrictive mold, and achieve equality amongst men in the culture. Hosted by Salwa Kader, founder and president of USFMEP, panelists included: Honorable Elizabeth Lamb, immigration judge from the United States; Honorable Helene Iskandar, criminal court judge from Lebanon; Honorable Cathy H. Serrette, judicial circuit court judge from Maryland; Honorable Doris Pechkurow, Pennsylvannia Court of Common Pleas judge; Professor Diane Rosenfeld, lecturer on Law and Director of the Gender Violence Program, Harvard Law School; and Dr. Burcu K. Oguzturk, Professor at Istanbul University Law School.

The United States Federation of Middle Eastern Peace (USFMEP) hosted a series of panel discussions that covered different aspects of violence against women and girls in the Middle East. In this video, the issue of religious faith, how it can empower change within the culture, and how to eliminate such ritualized violence. Opening remarks were presented by Salwa Kader, founder and president of USFMEP, and panelists included: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Hamid Al-Byati of Iraq, permanent representative to the United Nations; Professor Dr. Semiha Topal, PhD in Religious Studies from Arizona State university; Imam Shamsi Ali, Imam at the Islamic Cultural Center of New York and the director of Jamaica Muslim Center in Queens, chairman of Masjid Al-Hikmah of Astoria, Queens, and also chairman of Mulsim Day; and Reverend Ann Tiemeyer, program director of Women's Ministries, for the National Council of Churches Christ in the USA.
